Micro Needle Rejuvenation
What Is Micro Needle Rejuvenation?
Micro needle rejuvenation is also called micro-needling, skin-needling and collagen induction therapy. The treatment is minimally invasive, non-surgical and is effective at reducing the appearance of scars and improving skin texture and radiance. Micro needle rejuvenation is considered to be one of the safest skin treatment procedures, causing minimal damage to the skin.
The biggest advantage that micro-needling has over other skin and facial treatments is that it relies on the body’s natural healing process to stimulate collagen production and lay down new skin layers.
How Does Micro Needle Rejuvenation Work?
At Skintech Medical we use the Dermapen which is an advancement in micro needling technology. Micro needling works by systematically creating micro-punctures in the skin, tiny channels that induce the body’s natural process to repair the physical damage to the skin. This stimulates the healing response producing new collagen and elastin, to renew and repair the skin cells.
The treatment may sound painful, but actually the needles are extremely fine and discomfort is minimised. If you have an aversion to needles, we can apply a topical anaesthetic to soothe the process.
What Can Micro-Needling Be Used For?
We have seen effective results by using micro-needling for a range of skin conditions, including:
- Reducing the appearance of scars caused by acne, burns or surgery
- Reducing fine lines and deep wrinkles
- Fading stretch marks
- Tightening sagging skin
- Treating hyperpigmentation
- Rosacea
- Telangiectasia
How Long Does It Take To See Results From Micro-Needling?
Results can often be seen immediately after a treatment. The needling process penetrates the skin and creates micro wounds. As soon as this happens, the skin’s healing process begins as it starts to regenerate new cells and lay collagen. The best result however are seen about 4-6 weeks later as this is how long it takes for the body to bed down new collagen fibres in the skin.
How Many Treatments Will You Need?
At our initial consultation, we’ll discuss the treatment you need and how long the healing process may take for your skin condition to be improved. It is safe to repeat treatments every 4-6 weeks.
The frequency of treatment, length of treatment, and time for healing depends on the condition of your skin. For example, burn scars or deep acne scars may take longer to treat than fines lines.
- Burn scars and stretch marks – approximately 5-6 treatments
- Acne scars – approximately 3-6 treatments
- Fine lines and wrinkles – 3-4 treatments
Each treatment appointment can be anywhere from fifteen minutes to one hour depending on the depth of the problem, what is being treated and the end goal. Whatever condition you have, we’ll discuss your skin and what you want to achieve. We’ll only begin a treatment plan when you understand what’s involved and when you’re comfortable with the process of healing.
